As assistant managing editor/visuals, Breite oversees photographic content at The Journal in Rhode Island. She also supervises layout and design of the news section fronts. Breite joined The Journal in 1989 after spending a year in Israel freelancing and working on a kibbutz. She has served as the paper's Sunday Magazine picture editor and chief picture editor. Previously, Breite was a picture editor at the Boston Globe and at The Orange County Register, and she worked as a picture editor/staff photographer at the Journal Tribune in Biddeford, Maine. Breite is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in radio and television and a master's in journalism.

Davis is the Visual Director for Sun Publications. Previously, he was a design director at the Detroit Free Press, illustrations editor at National Geographic magazine, picture editor at the Albuquerque Tribune, as well as a reporter/photographer/editor at a small Nebraska daily and at base newspapers in the Air Force. Davis has been picture editor for seven books and was awarded Picture Editor of the Year (Newspaper Division) three times--once in POY and twice in NPPA's picture editing clip contest. Davis earned his master's degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri.

Horst Faas, Senior Picture Editor, Associated Press

Faas is the Associated Press Senior Picture Editor for Europe, Africa, Israel, and the Mideast. He is based in London and has worked for AP since 1956. While Faas worked as an AP photographer, he covered wars in the Congo, Algeria, Indochina, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Israel, Rhodesia and Angola. In addition, he regularly photographs the Olympic Games. In 1965 Faas won a Pulitzer Prize for his combat photographs made during the Vietnam War. He co-edited the prize-winning book "Requiem," which Random House published in 1997. In 1998 Faas received two lifetime achievement awards, one from the Picture Editors Guild of the United Kingdom and Ireland and the other from the National Press Photographers Association.

MaryAnne Golon, Director of Photography, US News & World Report

Golon joined US News in 1996. She previously worked for Time magazine, where after a 14-year career, she was deputy picture editor. At US News, Golon has overseen a dramatic shift in the photographic style of the magazine and has brought new, talented photographers and editors to the publication. During the Gulf War, Golon served as the on-site photography editor for Time and Life magazines, and she coordinated the photographic coverage of the Olympic Games from 1984 to 1996. Golon, who is on the board of directors for the Eddie Adams Workshop, graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1983 and completed a fellowship at Duke University in 1990. She lives in Washington D.C. with her son Christian.

Rick Kozak, Freelance Photographer

Kozak, a freelance photographer based in Washington, D.C., specializes in commercial, industrial and editorial photography. He is a contributing photographer for Insight magazine, where he was employed as a staff photographer between 1987 and 1995. Previously, he was a member of the photo staff at The Washington Times. Kozak's photographic reportage has won him numerous national and regional awards. He lives in Maryland with his wife and fellow photojournalist, Cathaleen Curtiss Kozak, and their two daughters Hannah and Ella.

Brian Masck, Editorial Systems Editor, Flint (Mich) Journal

Previously he was a Staff Photographer and Technology Coordinator at the Muskegon Chronicle. Masck has been part of the staff at several conferences including Electronic Photojournalism Workshop, Western Kentucky University's Mountain Workshops, and NPPA's digital conference. He has been a force in the Michigan Press Photographers Association internet and CD-ROM publications. Masck, a graduate of the University of Michigan, has judged several state and regional photojournalism competitions.

Jose More, Photographer, Chicago Tribune

More has worked at the Chicago Tribune since 1980. He was the paper's chief photographer from 1991 to 1994, but an urge to get "back on the street" lured him away from the office and back to news photography. He has covered the presidential campaigns of Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush and Bill Clinton. In addition, More has covered conflicts in Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Lebanon and Panama. Before he joined the Tribune, More was a UPI Kansas-Missouri bureau chief and chief photographer at the Palm Beach Post.

Morrow manages a staff of four designers and illustrators at the San Jose Mercury News. She joined the paper in 1990 and has since served as an assignments editor, daily picture editor, feature picture editor and assistant art director. Previously, she worked as a designer at the Atlanta Constitution and as a picture editor at the Boston Globe. Morrow has been a faculty member at the Stan Kalish Picture Editing Workshop since 1994. She has taught at the Poynter Institute, the Western Kentucky Mountain Workshop, and the Atlanta Seminar on Photojournalism. Morrow received her journalism degree from Indiana University.

Mary Jo Moss, co-director of The White Cloud Workshop

Currently, Moss co-directs The White Cloud Workshop for photojournalists; however, her background includes work in picture editing, freelance photography, fiction writing, teaching and public relations. She has served as graphic editor at the Evansville Courier; picture editor and photographer at the San Jose Mercury News; designer at the Long Beach Press-Telegram; and layout/copy editor at the Boulder Daily Camera. During her work with the San Jose Mercury News, Moss, along with the paper's entire staff, won a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. Moss is a faculty member of the Stan Kalish Picture Editing Workshop.

George Olson, Director of Photography, Sunset Magazine

Olson has been the Director of Photography at Sunset since 1995. Previously, he spent 20 years as a freelance photographer and editor in San Francisco. His work has been featured in National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Time and Newsweek. His professional projects include work on many of the "Day in the Life" books, as well as books about Christmas, Judaism and baseball. He began his career at the Topeka Capital-Journal and then joined the Kansas City Star before moving to the West Coast.

Steber is a documentary photographer whose work exploring human joy and tragedy has appeared in newspapers and magazines and on museum walls worldwide. She has worked in more than 35 countries and has produced major projects about Zimbabwe, Cuba, and Haiti, as well as projects on Native Americans and the history of slavery. Steber contributes regularly to National Geographic, Life, People, Smithsonian, and Newsweek magazines. Steber guest lectures at the University of Texas, Austin, where she received her photojournalism degree. In addition, she teaches workshops at the International Center for Photography and at the Missouri, Maine, Santa Fe and Tuscany photo workshops.
