Parvataneni Chandrakala, a teacher for severely mentally challenged children at the Child Guidance Center (CGC) in Hyderabad,
works with Manas, 8, to help her learn practical daily skills like brushing
her teeth and washing her face. The CGC, along with other private charities,
provide a much needed service for children who have no hope of finding homes
or being adopted and for children that cannot be properly cared for by state
institutions.
