Afghans struggle to find stability as the war and Taliban insurgency curtails advances in education and the economy. The UN says almost a third of the country is now directly affected by war. But years of Soviet occupation, civil war and nine years since the U.S. war against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, Afghans continue to show pride in their religion, country, ancestry, and independence.
