Nearly 1.7 people in Uttar Pradesh in India have been affected by heavy rainfall and flooding of the state’s major rivers in August 2010. Many lost their homes and were forced to live in tents on the streets with little help from the government. *** A family sit on remains of their house which was washed away by flooded water in Mathurapurkula village ourside Rampur in Uttar Pradesh in India on Sep 28, 2010. As many as two million people was displaced from their homes by the flooding in the state.
