A local villager in Hua Kha Khaeng holding carbofuran – an odorless, tasteless pesticide that is used in “revenge killings” of tigers in Asia and lions in Africa when the cats take down livestock. In Thailand it is also used by poachers who kill tiger prey, lace it with poison, and leave it as tiger bait; after feeding on the carcass, the cat dies.
