U.S. Presidential Debate Site Hosts Exhibit

POYi launched a national tour of "The Presidential Image" exhibition that includeed a premier showing at the 2012 Presidential Debate at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fl.

The Oct. 22 debate was the third and final exchange between President Barack Obama and former Gov. Mitt Romney before the national election. The 16-panel presentation was displayed at the Lynn University Library from Oct. 18 – 24.

The POYi Presidential retrospective exhibition was unveiled on Sept. 19 at the Associated Press Media Editors and Photo Managers conference in Nashville. The APME venue is the first of four sites to host the display in 2012, including stops at Western Kentucky University and the Chicago Photography Center in November.

During this election year, Pictures of the Year International offered this historical photography exhibition to public schools, civic organizations, and universities. Culled from the POYi Archive, the collection provided an unprecedented exhibition of visual history. The presentation chronicled Presidential life from the Roosevelt administration through both the Bush and Obama terms.

The POYi Archive is a collection of award-winning photographs that serves as a 69-year historical mirror on our society, our world events, as well as our daily life that goes beyond journalistic representation. The POYi Archive contains more than 35,000 images depicting a range of topics of historical and social significance from the flag-raising at Iwo Jima, to the anti-war confrontations in the 1960s, to segregation in the South.

Pictures of the Year International is the oldest and most prestigious photojournalism program in the world. POYi serves to promote photojournalism and provide educational public outreach to citizens worldwide. POYi is a program of the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism.
