Becca Martinez, 9, a 4th grader at Saratoga Elementary School, was born with alopecia, a disease that causes the immune system to attack the hair
follicles, causing the hair to fall out. Becca has at times endured teasing from other children who don’t understand why she doesn’t have hair but her mother Zulie Hernandez-Blanchard says her daughter is a confident young girl.
