"Living and Dying in Libby"

5 of 23

A pigeon exits the abandoned export plant in downtown Libby where vermiculite was expanded into insulation and then bagged for shipment. The dust from these buildings is believed to have helped spread asbestos fibers around Libby. These buildings also doubled as a playground for children who used to play in the shiny and slick substance in the early 1970's. These buildings have recently been demolished.
