"Guyana Rivers"  

Gold mining has been popular in the Essequibo watershed for a hundred years. However, recently, the exploding mine industry has posed serious threats to both the aquatic resources and people living along the river. A few years ago they spilled cyanide-tainted effluent into the river in what was called Guyanas worst environmental disaster.
