"Bee Eaters"

12 of 12

Bee-eaters with bumblebees in their bill.
Bee-eaters are nesting in colonies. It might mean dozens of nests at a single vertical bank. During the mating period every couple has their own twig. However, when they are feeding the chicks, it is more secure to use just one branch to perch. Since everyone arrives to the same twig before departing to the nest, it is more effective to detect any predators around.
