"The New Americans:
Island of Assimilation"

10 of 10

"PRIDE" They began the day gathering with hundreds of other Bosnians in Hartford's South end, and the day culminated in the marriage of two Bosnians. Making their way into Elizabeth Park for photos, the bride and groom are flanked by family and friends and a boy carrying the Bosnian flag (out of frame) and the American flag. The bride and groom who were married Aug. 11th, are Adisa Kuljancic (now Korkutovic) and Fikret Korkutovic. To the far right is his sister Senija and holding a small piece of Adisa's gown is Nizama Kuljancic, a cousin. The caravan of a hundred cars starts in Bosnian Square, moves to Wethersfield Ave. then proceeds to Elizabeth park for photographs. Then, it's onto the ceremony and the reception. For Bosnians it's a community celebration, not to be missed.
