"Fundraising is Friend-raising"
'Fundraising is friend-raising. You raise friends for
an organization. Your not asking people for funds or money for yourself, but
it's a cause you believe in, a cause that is making a difference in people's
lives. That's my motivation,' said Cal Meyers, a fundraiser his entire
career. 'I'm a volunteer and enjoy helping people. That's what I like to do.
We don't take big vacations or have a boat or a place up north. I spend most
of my time doing this because this is where I get my enjoyment and satisfaction.
I think I've got more than I've ever contributed.' he added. Meyers answers a
call on his way out of the Crossover Downtown Outreach Ministry, surrounded
by bags of Christmas packages for families in need that include toys for
children, clothing and food they've assembled.
